Highest Leverage Person in your Small Business
Over the last 13 years, I've conclusively proven that you get powerful results in your business when you work "on" it. When you take the time to plan. Most owners only do the day to day activities and never have or make time for strategy.
All it takes is one hour per week. The key is to follow the principles of kaizen and be committed to improving your business process one step at a time.
For instance, say you worked on: How to get the highest leverage person in your business doing more of what they are best at.
You dedicate just one hour per week, first starting with thinking about how to restructure your business to have that highest leverage person do what they are best at. How do you help that that happen more and more? In surprisingly few weeks you can notice a profound improvement in your business.
Who is this highest leverage person? YOU, the business owner!
Take a look at what your time is worth to your company. You probably are the center of revenue for your business – as in most or much of the delivery of service or expertise comes from you. Do a quick calculation of your hourly value to the company.
Now look at all the other things that you do, (especially that are not direct revenue producing) and that could be done by others. Add up this time – all the hours you are putting in to get this extra work done. Finally, think about how this extra work takes energy and makes you less fresh and available to do your main money producing activities.
This can be a shocking example of how expensive it is for you to be doing any task other than what you are best at, and that make money. Take an exact inventory of the things that you could easily let someone else handle, and do it today. Then delegate!
Here's a tough question for some owners. What do you do, that someone else could do as well… or better?
I know, you're convinced that no one cares as much as you do about your business. So, how could they do any job better than you do it?
We all have areas where we are talented or gifted. And no one – not even you… is great at everything. Someone can be better than you at a task because it is their talent; what they are really good at and enjoy. You already have some of these people on your team!

Hi,
Thanks for linking to my blog post
I agree - us, the business owner, is the highest leverage person. I also agree, that the most you involve in day-to-day activities of your biz, the less accurate plan you have for your biz.
Cheers!
