Small Business Growth Reality Check Quiz

Are You Ready To Grow?

1) Currently, does your company consistently provide measurable value to your clients and customers?
I know we provide measurable value because we track it regularly. We get unsolicited positive comments, we score high on client satisfaction surveys, and we're known for meeting deadlines and delivering on promises.
I'm pretty sure we generate good results for our customers... we get some repeat business and some referrals..., but we don't actively measure customer satisfaction through surveys. Who has the time for that?
I don't know how well I am doing in this area.
2) Is demand and your market size large enough to allow 2X, 3X, 5x, 10x or more... Large Scale Growth?
We know our market share numbers and we have lots of room to expand our services, and/or industry sectors and geographic reach.
I don't know my current market share, how many competitors I have and I'm not sure if the market can support growth to 3X or more my current size.
3) What are the key resources you need to grow: people, money, time, or something else... and do you have access to them?
If I decided to grow my business, I wouldn't have trouble finding the right people, the suppliers, building space and money that I need.
The right people, suppliers, support services, building space, money: If I decided to grow my business, one or more of these might be hard to solve.
4) Do you have a core level of respect for people?
I consistently treat all people with respect and dignity. I care what happens to the people who work for me, and to my customers as well.
I see people as either holding my money or spending it... I don't have much interest in my employees outside of work. If only I had good staff, things would be different.
5) Do you have a fundamental desire to contribute significantly to other people?
I have a history of being involved in community and other service organizations and I enjoy contributing to others.
I'm most interested in making money as fast as possible. People (staff, customers or both) are a necessary evil in getting what I want. They get paid to contribute to me, not the other way around
6) Do you have a fundamental desire to contribute just as significantly to yourself as to others?
I am definitely interested in contributing to myself.
If I take care of others, that's what is important. I eventually get my needs met too.
7) Do you believe in the power of people to accomplish extraordinary things in life?
I believe in and like to tap the human potential that's available in each of us.
This is a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, esoteric new age stuff. People are people. They can do what they can and that's it.
8) Are you open to outside input from others, and to challenge conventional norms?
I am open to input from others, listening and exercising my good judgement as well.
I am likely to dismiss too much input from others, especially because they haven't walked in my shoes, and don't know my business.
9) Are you willing to go through personal growth as your company grows?
I enjoy learning and growing, as well as finding out my limits, and growing past these limits.
I'm not really interested in personal development courses; I don't need them. I am fine the way I am. I just want to grow my business.
10) Can you let go of many of the "daily to-do's" and move into the regular visioning and planning required to grow?
I focus on mid to long term strategic initiatives.
I spend almost all of my time putting out fires. Time to strategize would be nice, but there is just too much to do.
